Hello all! Thanks for tuning in. I have been making candles for over 2 years and burning them for as long as I remember. Due to this, I have experienced most problems that you could experience with candles. Let’s get started:
- Why choose beeswax?
A: Please read the first blog post, which breaks down why beeswax is far superior to other wax peddled by major candle manufacturers that you have most likely used or seen. Try out the Superior Wax.
- My candle is burning too fast or too large, what can I do to mitigate this?
A: you will notice that Beeswax candles are brighter and burn larger than other candles. However, if it is too large for what you would like, there are ways to lessen the flame.
first, blow out your candle. let the wax reform. Next, trim the wick to smaller than it was before. This means the wick will not sustain as much of a flame as before, allowing your candle to last longer with a smaller flame!
- My candle keeps going out. What can I do about this? A: there are a few ways to deal with this issue. Firstly, try to use a tool to dig some wax away from the wick. This will let the wick burn without ‘drowning’ in the wax. Alternatively, you can wait for the wick to burn a small wax pool, and then drain this pool. This means no tools are needed and the wick has some extra burning space.
- My candle is tunneling. What should I do?
A: This can be a common problem. To mitigate this issue, burn the candle for at least 3 hours the first time you are using it. This allows the wax pool to reach its ideal size and continue to burn like this. Think of it as your candle's memory of how to burn! :)
However, if this wasn't done the first time, there is still hope! A technique I have found that works ( is to pour some melted wax out of your candle's wax pool. This means the candlewick will not be 'drowned' by the wax, and will burn bigger and brighter as Beeswax candles do. Once this is done, tunneling may still occur. If you want the most usage out of your tunneling candle, I recommend slowly pushing some of the wax around the edges into the wax pool. This can be done with a knife, spoon, your fingers, anything rigid enough to push the wax down. Don’t push too much wax at once, or you will drown the wick. This is a great way to add unused wax into the wax pool and improve the quality and longevity of your candle.
